It’s time to start thinking where to go for my mid-summer break this year. But, I need to curb my spending a bit more than normal. My pound isn’t worth much abroad anymore and flights don’t seem to be quite as reasonable as they used to be. In fact, I’m worried that if I book a flight at all the company will go bust before I’ve even had a chance to get to my destination (take me there first and leave me stranded in the tropics – that’s fine!).
I was chatting to a friend last night about my problem – explaining that I wanted a holiday full of FUN and laughter as I am fed up of hearing all about the credit crunch but at the same e I was living it so have to spend carefully. He suggested that I should think about searching for some holidays in Wales. One of the places that he recommended for weekend breaks in Wales was somewhere called Barafundle Bay, which is supposed to be lovely.
Apparently you can go cycling, play at boats with kids, stay in a blue hotel (which looks like one of those toy – holiday cottages in Wales, which is full of local stuff like the blankets, the art on the wall – even the beds|) which has been adorned with local products. Rock climbing, and then throwing yourself off a cliff into water, drink welsh wine, eat crab and sausages (Welsh surf and turf – tee hee!) or locally produced food, cooked by a Michelin star chef. My god, the list is exhaustive.
I thought I better have a little look. I jumped onto my laptop, fired up the internet access and plunged into a world of Wales on the web. When I’m feeling particularly lazy, I go straight to youtube.com – saves me reading stuff and I found the following video which is part of an advertising campaign for Wales in Style suggesting things you can do in Wales.
Apparently you can go cycling, play at boats with kids, stay in a blue hotel (which looks like one of those toy – holiday cottages in North Wales, which is full of local stuff like the blankets, the art on the wall – even the beds|) which has been adorned with local products. Jumping off cliffs, supping local wines and eatting local foods like crab and sausages!), or Michelin star cuisine made with local produce. My god, the list is exhaustive.
So, yep – I’m sold – I’m going to give it a go, safely in the knowledge that I am helping our slowing economy by keeping British money in Britain.
